Message Vision. Not Division
Break the Dog Whistle code that conservatives use to hold political power and control your vote. Political racism is a real thing - Conservative politicians use racism to promote racial conflict, to divide and distract us. Why? This is a strategy to seize and hold political power.
This 3-session discussion series, featuring brief videos from Ian Haney-Lopez’s Race-Class Academy, brings the concepts of Dog Whistle politics and political racism to life. Together, we will transform these concepts from an academic idea to a conversation at kitchen tables across Michigan and build a Liberal Political Strategy.
Session I – Disarming the Dog Whistle takes us on a Dog Whistle journey explaining why the strategy to divide non-whites has been successful for 60 years.
Session II – Racism: A Political Strategy puts us to work with a new messaging strategy known as Race-Class. We practice telling a complete story by using Race-Class to address strategic racism and a Vision for America.
Session III – Come Together … Right Now is where we discover why now, today, is the right time to build solidarity, address racism and create a new America.
