Powers from People

Our Declaration of Independence explains why and how people running the government are entitled to make decisions for us. They are "deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed". That's us!


But it goes further to explain: "That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government".


We alter the government by voting and lawmakers alter it by making and amending laws. For example, the Voting Rights Act of 1965. Power Your Vote!
